The Mast & Pit Men:
BMW ORACLE RACING
 This
is the eighth in a series of videos describing the roles of crewmembers
aboard the
BMW ORACLE America's Cup Racing Yacht.
 In
this episode, we observe teamwork of the mast and pit men who work around
the mast and in the front end of the cockpit. The mast men handle the
halyards at the mast that raise and lower sails. They also grind the
mainsail upwind and during the prestart.
 The
pit men coordinate the sail hosts and drops, controlling halyards, foreguys,
and other control lines. They also communicate the Afterguard's plan on sail
changes to the bow team. Upwind, the pit men grind the genoa.
